We have just introduced our new female dragon to our male and all is well (no fighting no squabbling no beard flaring), however he has climbed onto her back and is licking her. Has anyone seen this before??? Once he had licked her about ten times he climbed down and started licking the log in their enclosure.

You didn't notice what was happening at the other end did you? This sounds like a basic mating move and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that you have eggs in a few weeks time. How old are your dragons?

They did not look like they mated as he did not grab hold of her , he just sat on her back and licked her gently. (maybe he wants to get to know her first lol) Male dragon is three and new dragon is approximately the same age perhaps slightly older than that. I have not seen him lick anything at any other time.

They do taste new things in the enclosure, but I would still be expecting eggs shortly. Unless you keep an eye on then 24 hrs a day they may well have done the deed when your back was turned.
