Posting this for Jayson Smile
----------------------------

Well fellow herpers, the time has come again to get the ball rolling and start organising a Herp Getaway for 2007. We are giving you all plenty of notice to book this date in, so there will be no excuses for you not to show up. The date is going to be Thursday January 25th through to Sunday January 28th and yes this is the Australia Day Long Weekend. We have been talking about making this an annual event each year, which will hopefully sound like a great idea to you all and continue to grow every year. The 1st Herp Getaway was held the same time earlier this year at Mt Mee National Park, where around 15 people got for the weekend. This was a great start and was great to put faces to names of the people that you had only chatted to online.

This time around we will be camping on a private property at Canungra, which is the base of Lamington National Park situated west of the Gold Coast. A handful of people gave the property a test run in March, and although it was a little too cool, it was given the thumbs up as a great place to camp. So we have decided to make the next Herp Getaway on the Australia Day long weekend here at Canungra. The cost is going to be $5.00 per person for the weekend, which gives you entry to the property and permission to camp for the weekend. So if you feel like coming along for a great time, organise yourselves now, because before you know it, you will be counting down the days and the weekend will be upon us.

The weekend is open to anybody who would like to attend, the only thing I ask is that you let myself or Deb know if you intend to come along, so we can arrange the required space and amenities. So make sure you interstate people keep an eye out for the cheap airfares to God’s Country and tag along and have some fun, not to mention some fantastic Herping.

Below I have added a few links for you all in case you are interested in reading up on the area where we will be camping and what we may be lucky enough to see while out there.
